This is an etched and laser cut wooden map of the actual schematic for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
The Pirates of the Caribbean opened on December 15th 1973 at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando FL. The attraction is a slow moving boat tour of various scenes in which a crew of pirates have descended onto a town to pillage, plunder, rifle, and loot. This feeling of adventure has guests returning to MK's Adventureland for nearly 50 years. It's popularity would grow to eventually influence the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.
The ride lasts around 8 min 30 sec. This map displays the full track layout, throughout all of the ride's show scenes. Etches of the various characters have been added to each scene, in the same place as their real world counterparts in the attraction. Some of the characters displayed in this art piece are from the opening day version of this ride. For example, the original 'red head' is featured at the auction scene. Small representations of the ride vehicles are also included along the ride track. There is a key on the map which will give the names of the corresponding show rooms across the schematic.
The map is 11in tall and 14in wide and .67in unframed (Framed 12in tall and 15in wide, and 1.5in deep). It weighs 10.9oz unframed (Framed 2.76lbs). It is carved out of 6 layers of laser cut wood. The map is painted in four colors.
It is a great collectible for all fans of theme parks, and makes a wonderful accent to any room.
